Privacy Policy

The short version. aMEALi has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your recipes, meals, and logs are stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We can't see them. Recipe and photo processing happens on your device. When you import a recipe from a link, your device fetches that web page directly from the site it's on. The only outside service we use is our payment provider, for subscriptions.
Who we are
aMEALi ("the app") is an iOS app for saving recipes, planning meals, and tracking what you eat. This policy explains what the app stores, where it goes, and the choices you have. Questions are welcome at studio.dg.apps@gmail.com.
Information you create in the app
Everything you add — recipes, ingredients, photos, videos, meals, grocery lists, logged items, and notes — is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data.
If iCloud is enabled on your device, this content also syncs through Apple's CloudKit to your private iCloud database, so your library appears on your other devices. That data lives in your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms. We do not operate a server, do not receive a copy, and cannot read it.
You can turn syncing off at any time in iOS Settings, and you can delete your content from inside the app.
No account required
aMEALi does not ask you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts, and we do not ask you to sign in.
Device permissions
The app asks for these only when a feature needs them, and each is optional:
- Camera — to photograph a dish or scan a printed recipe.
- Photo library — to choose photos and cooking videos to turn into recipes, and to save images you create in the app.
- Microphone and speech recognition — to transcribe narration in cooking videos and spoken meal notes.
Declining a permission only disables the feature that needs it. The rest of the app keeps working.
Processing happens on your device
Features that read a video, scan text from an image, generate an image, estimate calories, or suggest tags run using Apple's on-device frameworks, including Apple Intelligence on supported hardware. Your recipes, photos, videos, and audio are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us.
Nutrition data used for calorie estimates ships inside the app and comes from the USDA FoodData Central database, a public-domain U.S. Government dataset. Looking up an ingredient does not send anything anywhere.
Importing from the web
When you import a recipe from a link — for example a recipe website, or a TikTok or Instagram video — your device fetches that web page (and any preview image or public caption it provides) directly from the site it lives on, the same way a web browser would. This is a direct connection between your device and that third-party website, and it is subject to that site's own privacy practices. The recipe content is then processed on your device as described above. This request does not pass through us, we do not receive a copy of it, and it carries no information about you beyond the standard details any web request includes.
Subscriptions and payments
Subscriptions are sold through Apple. We never see or store your payment details. Apple processes the transaction and shares only what's needed to confirm it.
To manage subscriptions across your devices, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service provider. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated app user ID, your purchase and receipt information, and basic device and app details (such as device model, operating system version, and country). This is used to tell the app whether your subscription is active. It is not linked to your name or email, and it does not include your recipes or any content you create.
Analytics and advertising
aMEALi contains no advertising, no third-party advertising SDKs, and no cross-app tracking. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Sharing recipes
When you export or share a recipe file, it goes wherever you send it using the standard iOS share sheet. That transfer is between you and the app or person you choose; it does not pass through us.
Children
aMEALi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Delete content — remove individual recipes, meals, and logs, or clear app data from within Settings in the app.
- Stop syncing — turn off iCloud for aMEALi in iOS Settings.
- Revoke permissions — change camera, photo, microphone, and speech access in iOS Settings at any time.
- Delete everything — removing the app deletes its local data; deleting aMEALi data from your iCloud account removes the synced copy.
Because we don't hold your content, requests to access or delete it are handled on your own device and iCloud account. If you have a question about data held by our payment provider, write to us and we'll help.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and post the revised version here.
